Back and neck pain can affect your movement, sleep, work, exercise and confidence in everyday activities. Symptoms may begin suddenly after an injury or develop gradually over time. For some people, pain can also become persistent or repeatedly return.

At Corio Bay Health Group, our physiotherapists will help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and develop a treatment plan based on your needs, goals and lifestyle.

Back and neck conditions we treat

Our physiotherapists can assist with:

  • Lower back pain
  • Upper and mid-back pain
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Disc-related back or neck pain
  • Sciatica and leg pain
  • Nerve-related arm pain
  • Headaches associated with the neck
  • Whiplash-associated disorders
  • Postural and work-related pain
  • Muscle and joint strains
  • Pain associated with prolonged sitting or repetitive activity
  • Reduced spinal mobility
  • Persistent or recurring back and neck pain
  • Rehabilitation following spinal surgery
  • Returning to work, exercise or sport after an episode of pain

You do not need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before making an appointment. Assessing the problem and determining the most appropriate management approach is part of your physiotherapist’s role.

Understanding back and neck pain

Back and neck pain can have many contributing factors. These may include a recent injury, changes in activity, reduced strength or mobility, repetitive work, prolonged positions, poor recovery or increased physical demands.

Scans may occasionally be helpful, but they are not required for most episodes of back or neck pain. Your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms, movement, strength, function and relevant neurological signs to determine whether further investigation or medical review may be appropriate.

Our goal is to give you a clear explanation of your condition without creating unnecessary fear around movement or scan findings.
