What is Functional Restoration and how can it help you?

Spinal Management Physiotherapists are physios who use Functional Restoration, which is exercise/movement-based physiotherapy.

Functional Restoration is a type of physiotherapy which aims to help people with chronic pain by setting them up with an exercise program to self-manage their condition. It can assist chronic pain-sufferers to increase their physical functioning, improve pain-coping skills, and to promote the return to a productive lifestyle at home or work.

The difference between typical physio treatment and functional restoration is there is limited hands on treatment with functional restoration.

Physiotherapy consultations are not claimable through Medicare unless you have an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral from your doctor.

If you are covered for physiotherapy treatment through your private health fund you will be able to claim a portion of your consultation cost back. You can contact your health fund for information about your individual benefits.

You do not need a referral from a doctor or other practitioner.
