2017 Trainers Development Evenings

Corio Bay Health Group will again host two trainers development evenings in 2017. We aim to provide valuable, useable information and techniques to assist local trainers with looking after their players.

Both sessions are free and will be held at Corio Bay Sports Medicine Centre – 283 Latrobe Tce, Geelong at 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start (sharp). Each session will be 60-80 minutes, with light refreshments and equipment provided.

Session 1: Wednesday 10th May 2017

Topic: Current thinking and rehab ideas for hamstring strains

Presenters: Sam Rice – Footscray VFL Trainer & Geelong Supercats Physiotherapist

Chris Stewart – Sports Physiotherapist

The night will focus on the latest research findings looking at why hamstring strains tend to recur and which exercises and running program ideas seem to work best. This will include the brand new NordBord hamstring testing machine.

 

Session 2: Wednesday 14th June 2017

Topic: Massage and taping techniques

Presenters:   Emily Brown – Geelong Falcons Physiotherapist

Sam Rice – Footscray VFL Trainer & Geelong Supercats Physiotherapist

This evening will look at various methods of massage, highlighting pre- and post-game and other specific techniques/indications. It will also be used to cover various taping techniques useful for shoulder, ankle and knee.
